About the project
George and Rebecca Barnes opened their 1851 mansion to the Underground Railroad to help blacks escaping slavery and oppression as well as fellow abolitionist. Now, the nationally-registered historic home is a capsule of the family’s legacy and a space for the Central New York community to share and thrive.
