Religion is a personal experience. While each tradition is rooted in its own history, individuals define spirituality on their own terms. This series of portraits explores the personal journeys of several religious leaders and the various forms through which their peers experience community. The items pictured alongside the portraits are used in ritualized processes unique to each group’s practice and collective understanding.
